Alexis Turner is fascinated by information. And history. And knowledge. Language. The Internet. Food. And, well, pretty much everything, really. In an age of increasing specialization and expertise, she holds stubbornly to the notion that "dilettante" is not only not a four letter word, but that it is a noble and respectable calling.
Though much of her professional and personal tinkerings have been with the Internet and technology, she isn't completely ignorant of engineering, art, sociology, cooking, politics, or history. This allows her not only to see how disparate phenomena fit together, but it allows her to pick up new skills and knowledge the way most of her peers pick up cheap dates. Her ideal job would involve being called in to brainstorming sessions for the world's problems where she would be allowed to concoct creative, farfetched, impossible solutions to problems about which she knows nothing, but have them work perfectly because, after all, isn't that what dilettantes do? Short of this, she enjoys working in any position that is reasonably challenging, fluid, and requires extensive tinkering, finessing, and problem-solving. Interested?
Alexis was born in Houston, Texas. She has also lived in New York; Virginia; Colorado; Washington, DC; and Oregon. She has a cat named Spider and still says y'all.
